Digital Europe
The Digital Europe Programme (DEP) is the central programme for digitalization in the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF). It aims to accelerate the economic recovery and drive the digital transformation in Europe.
The Digital Europe Program will boost investment in a number of areas, including
- Supercomputing and data processing capacities
- Core artificial intelligence (AI) capacities such as data spaces and libraries of AI algorithms
- Cybersecurity
- Digital skills to promote the best use of digital capacities in EU society and economy
- Support for the digitalization of businesses and public administrations
The Digital Europe program aims to close the gap between research and the use of digital technologies. It will bring the results of research to the market for the benefit of European citizens and businesses, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The Digital Europe program has a funding volume of 7.6 billion euros for a period of 7 years (2021 - 2027).
Horizon Europe
Horizon Europe is a seven-year funding program for research and innovation that will continue the work of Horizon 2020. It will fund important research in the areas of health, resilience and the green and digital transitions.
Horizon Europe includes a dedicated budget for "Digital, Industry and Space". This budget will fund research and cutting-edge innovation in enabling technologies, such as:
- Artificial intelligence and robotics
- Next generation internet
- High performance computing
- Big data
- Digital key enabling technologies
- 6G
It will also support research into the combination of digital and other technologies. Overall, it is expected that around 35% of Horizon Europe funding will be used to support work on the digital transition. The work of Horizon Europe will complement the work of the Digital Europe program.
The Horizon Europe program has a funding volume of 95.5 billion euros for a period of 7 years (2021 - 2027).
